American Chocolate Showcase #6 – Butterfinger Crisp

14 Aug

While Nestle Butterfinger has long since been one of America’s most cherished chocolate bars, in recent times another product from the same family has started to take away some of the limelight from it.

Launched in 2004 Butterfinger Crisp consists of a delicious mix of light and crispy wafers, Butterfinger candy creme and crunchy candy bits covered with thick milk chocolate. Each bar weighs approximately 40 grams and is packaged in a distinctive yellow and white wrapper. There are 24 individual bars in a box.

Only available in Australia from specialist stores like Moo-Lolly-Bar, Butterfinger Crisp offers a taste sensation that mixes the delicious flaky feel of the original with the satisfying crunch of several layers of wafer. The popular confectionery blog Candy Addict has described the product as the ‘love child of a giant Kit Kat and a classic Butterfinger, only way better’. A description we feel is pretty apt.

Nestlé triumphs at The Press Business Awards 2011

27 Nov

David Rennie of NestleConfectionery giant Nestlé triumphed at The Press Business Awards tonight, winning both Large Business Of The Year and being named The Press’s Overall Business Of The Year.

The prized awards were handed over at a glittering black tie event in front of an audience of about 300 people at The Press’s largest ever awards ceremony, held in the Voltigeur Suite at York Racecourse.

Judges said they were impressed by the scale of Nestlé’s commitment to the city, its investment in putting York at the forefront of development in the industry with its new Customer Insight and Learning Centre and expanded Product Technology Centre.

They said: “As a world leader in confectionery and food, Nestlé carries the name of York around the globe. Its leading brands – Kit Kat, Aero and Polo – are household names the world over.”

The manufacturer, which employs 1,800 in York, was also shortlisted for Think Green Business Of The Year. But this award went to Rosewood Farms, a producer based on ethical and green farming traditions, who showed a sustained commitment to the environment and considered all aspects of the business and supply chain.

ITV presenter, Kate Walby, Master of Ceremonies for the event, proudly announced extra good news for the winner of the Tourism and Hospitality Business Of The Year. Chosen by the judges for its commitment to the tiniest details in its bid to become York’s first five-star hotel, The Cedar Court Grand Hotel and Spa celebrated doubly hard as Kate announced the hotel had finally achieved the status.

Inspiring Angela, who continues to help young girls in Bridlington into employment, was also awarded the new Best Business and Community Link award.

Quartz Travel bagged the Small Business Of The Year award, the most entered accolade of The Press Business Awards, fending off competition from 50 other entrants this year. The Business Personality of the Year award went to Shaun Watts, owner of Chameleon Business Interiors for his work as former president of York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and with the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership.

Ashley Mason, 20, who was also shortlisted for the same award last year, went home with the Young Business Entrepreneur Of The Year title for his success with growing independent ambulance service YorMed.

What that Snickers says about you

2 Oct

Snickers Bar. Available to buy online in Australia from Moo-Lolly-Bar. To do that just click on this image. We’ve all got our favorites when it comes to Halloween candy. Snickers, Butterfinger, M&Ms. To paraphrase Homer Simpson, “Mmmmmmm, candy.”

But when you paw through that stash of Halloween candy and pull out your favorites, did you know that your choice of treat screams volumes about your personality? Well, we didn’t either, until we had too much pre-Halloween candy and invented the theory.

So say hello to our sugar-induced candyscope, and don’t overindulge in the coming days.

M&Ms:
If you go for double Ms, you tend to separate your socks by color and have abnormally clean hands.

Snickers:
Sign of indecisiveness. Do you want chocolate? Do you want nuts? You don’t know. Or do you?

Candy corn:
Frustrated farmer. You are a sweet soul who loves to grow sweet peas and make maple syrup.

Nestle’s Crunch:
You have a well-rounded personality but can be a little snappy.

Kit-Kat bars:
You love to build sand castles on the beach, grow herbs and claw up the couch.

Jolly Ranchers:
You have a daring side and love adventure. You’re also fond of parrots and eye patches.

Butterfinger:
You’re kind and considerate, but we wouldn’t trust you to carry the family china.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups:
You have hidden talents and are a deep thinker. You like to do things in pairs.

Gummy bears:
Sweet, cuddly and loving, but people often find you sticking to the ceiling, which makes you an inappropriate guest for parties that include a pinata.

Sour Patch:
You’re bitter and abrasive and good at making people cry.

Hershey:
You are loved by most people and live a simple, plain and unassuming life.

Junior Mints:
You have a refreshing and zippy personality, but you suffer from an inferiority complex.
