Mainstreet Waynesboro: Chocolate Extravaganza, Builders Show, Memorial Bridge

31 Mar

One of Mainstreet Waynesboro’s premier annual events, the Chocolate Extravaganza, was held on Friday evening, March 10. It turned out to be a resounding success. We’ll take a look at the highlights in this edition of The View from the Square and also look ahead at some other activities in the greater Waynesboro area.

The Premier Chocolate Event

This year’s Chocolate Extravaganza was held at the Waynesboro Country Club. Previous locations included in Susquehanna Bank, the Elks Lodge and the Downtown Eagles Club. It was decided to move the event to the country club based on the anticipated increase in attendance and the availability of adequate floor space and band/dance area. That decision turned out to be a good one, as 196 tickets were sold and close to 200 actually attended. This was the largest crowd since the event started six years ago.

Entertainment throughout the evening was provided by the Neil Wright Band, featuring a variety of music ranging from the big band sound to the “oldies” and modern pop. This is the second year the Neil Wright Band played, and their music was again superb with the dance floor being well used.

Attendees were treated to a variety of decadent chocolate creations provided by a number of local confectioners. Those participating included the Burgundy Lane Bed and Breakfast, Despina Leos Candy Kitchen, TranquilaTEA, Waynesboro Country Club, The Waynesburger, Zoe’s Chocolate Co., Christina’s Cafe and Lisa McCoy of Have a Little Faith Bakery. Lisa, who plans to open a bakery later this year in downtown Waynesboro, treated the crowd to a sampling of the sweeter line of her anticipated baked products. She also added a nice touch by giving out doggie delicacies to those who wanted to share the chocolate high by treating their pets to something special.
